Many tourists asked us which airport is close by and more convenient for them to take flights to Hochiminh city. At first some of them had thought they would go to Noi Bai airport in Hanoi for the flights. Some would also go here. However these days tourists from foreign countries have more choices for that and they do not need to come back to Noi Bai airport in Hanoi anymore. Hereinafter are 2 airports that are closer to Halong Bay for the tourists’ options.
1. Van Don International Airport (Located in Van Don District, Quang Ninh Province)
Van Don international airport was started building in 2015 and finished in July 2018 for the first stage. The airport was opened for its operation on December 30th, 2018 with a flight from Hanoi by Vietnam Airlines. Van Don Airport is about 50KM from the center of Halong City (Halong Bay). Up to now Van Don International Airport has received some flights from Hochiminh city (Daily); Shenzen (China) – charter flights; Incheon (S. Korea) – charter flights. In the near future, there will be flights from/to Da Nang city, Phu Quoc island, Taipei (Taiwan – China), Hongkong (China)..
2. Cat Bi Internation Airport (Located in Haiphong city)
Cat Bi international airport was finished being built in May 2016 based on the former Cat Bi domestic air port. Up to now Cat Bi international airport has receive many flights from/to Hochiminh city, Da Nang city, Phu Quoc Island, Nha Trang city, Da Lat city, Buon Me Thuot city, Quy Nhon city, Bangkok (Thailand), Incheon (S.Korea).. The distance from Halong Bay to Cat Bi international airport is about 65KM.
